Climb aboard a shared 4x4, with a maximum of 6 passengers, and head into Jandía Natural Park with a local driver-guide who knows every corner of the peninsula. After pickup in your area (Costa Calma, Esquinzo, Jandía or Morro Jable), the off-roader leaves the tarmac for dirt tracks and secondary roads that wind between volcanic mountains and almost uninhabited ravines.
The first big surprise of the route is the Sotavento viewpoints, with panoramic views over the turquoise lagoon and Punta del Viento, one of the most photographed landscapes in Fuerteventura. From there, the jeep continues into the natural park, crossing dusty tracks until reaching the legendary village of Cofete, where the mysteries surrounding the enigmatic Villa Winter still linger.
The highlight of the excursion is Cofete beach, 14 kilometres of unspoiled golden sand washed by the Atlantic, one of the last great undeveloped natural spaces in the Canary Islands. The route then heads towards the southern tip of the island to visit the Punta Jandía lighthouse and the picturesque, quiet fishing village of El Puertito, before returning to the pickup points.
