The waters between Fuerteventura and the African coast form a migratory corridor for several cetacean species, and the island's south coast, off the Jandía peninsula, is one of the best sighting spots in the Canaries. You don't need a scientific expedition to go looking — there are two easy ways to head out, each with a different feel.
The most direct option is the whale and dolphin watching speedboat tour from Morro Jable: a 1 hour 30 minute trip departing at 9:30am, with an air-conditioned van picking you up from hotels in Costa Calma, Esquinzo, Jandía and Morro Jable (south zone only). From Morro Jable harbour, the boat runs along the coast toward the Jandía peninsula, with views of the rugged mountain scenery and turquoise water while you scan for dolphins and, with some luck, whales. It costs €40 per adult, includes a life jacket and a multilingual guide, and as the tour itself makes clear, sightings are never 100% guaranteed — this is wildlife, not a show.
If you'd rather pair the wildlife search with a multi-hour beach-day feel, the catamaran from Caleta de Fuste sets sail at 11:00am from the marina (meet 20 minutes before) toward the fishing village of Pozo Negro. Over 4 hours at sea, there's time to snorkel, swim and relax on deck while the crew keeps an eye out for dolphins along the way. The price includes a mixed paella lunch with salad and wrinkly potatoes, onboard drinks (beer, soft drinks and water) and life jackets: €59 for adults, €35 for children. Note that hotel pickup isn't included, so you'll need to make your own way to the marina.

Are whale or dolphin sightings guaranteed? Not 100% — this is wild animals in their natural habitat. That said, Fuerteventura's south coast has a high sighting rate, especially for dolphins.
Which option works better with young kids? The catamaran tends to be more comfortable for families, since it's slower, more stable and lasts longer. The Morro Jable speedboat tour doesn't admit children under 2.
Do I need snorkelling experience for the catamaran stop? No — the boat anchors in calm, shallow water near Pozo Negro, suitable for beginners.
