In detail

Join the official Volcano Teide excursion to Spain's most visited national park, home to the country's highest peak at 3,718 metres. After pickup at one of 56 locations in the north and south of the island, the coach climbs towards Teide National Park while the official guide explains the history and geology of this lunar landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

From the base station, the cable car takes you up to 3,555 metres in 8 minutes. At the top you'll have free time to explore the open-access trails: one leads to the Pico Viejo viewpoint, overlooking its 800-metre-wide crater, and another to the La Fortaleza viewpoint, facing the north of the island. The Telesforo Bravo trail to the summit (3,718 m) requires a permit obtained in advance. The visit is rounded off with the Teide Legend digital audio guide and free access to the "Science and Legend" exhibition.

Closed shoes with good grip are mandatory and warm clothing is recommended: at the summit, temperatures can be up to 15 degrees lower than on the coast. If the cable car closes due to high winds, the tour still runs via an alternative route and the cable car fare is refunded. Not recommended for pregnant women, children under 3, or people with heart or respiratory conditions.
